This course will focus on the Philadelphia area and its role in the economic, political, and military history of the United States from 1740 to 1815. Topics will include Philadelphia Quakers in the colonial economy, the Pennsylvania Commissioners for Indian Affairs during the French and Indian War, the Philadelphia Campaign of 1777, the Cape May Navy and Egg Harbor Guards in the War for Independence, and Philadelphia in the War of 1812.
