The Power of Music for Successful Aging

We will listen to a variety of musical genres and observe how the structure of music (rhythm, tempo, melody), improves attention, executive function, working memory, and processing speed as we age and notice how music affects our body, mind, and emotions. We will observe how moving to music (walking in tempo) affects cognition, motivation, and mood.

Instructor: Suzanne Cohen

Suzanne Cohen is a psychologist and has been in private practice of psychotherapy for over 45 years. She has experience working with older populations as a Somatic Educator, where she uses music and movement for health and wellbeing.  She has been teaching The Nia Technique, a movement program,  for over 25 years and has taught the power of music to adults with learning disabilities.
