Books and films often present scenarios in which radical forces supplant a nation’s cultural and political order. This course will view six films suggesting that process: The Parallax View, The Handmaid’s Tale, Soylent Green, Fahrenheit 451, The Manchurian Candidate, and Seven Days in May.

Richard Monastra is a native of South Philadelphia with a BA in American History from LaSalle University, an MS in Economics from Drexel University and graduate work in American History at Temple University. In addition to teaching those subjects in high school and college classes for 42 years, he has taught other social studies courses in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
